Shoes that I've had that are bad are Vans, they don't last at all, at the least the pair I had. I had the Vans Chukka Lows and they started to rip in 10 minutes after skating in them, not even kidding.
What I usually do is find a pair of shoes I want and look up a couple reviews, it helps a lot.
